Rotterdam, The Netherlands – A Rotterdam man claims to have completed the “most accurate translation ever” of John Denver’s “take me home, country roads.” Pieter Van Wyck, a Dutch Folk song enthusiast for much of his adult life, was “always troubled by the need to sing part of the song in Dutch and part in English.” Van Wyck began the translation in 2006 and has worked on it in his free time, “At last I got the melody down, that was the hardest part of this project, it took more then 2 years.” Van Wyck plans to unveil his fully Dutch version of the song on a street corner at next year’s Queen’s day celebration in Amsterdam.
